OOLOGAH — Health officials at an emergency medical clinic on Thursday dispensed antibiotics to more than 600 people at Oologah-Talala's Lower Elementary School following the death of two students from meningococcemia.
Four other students have been hospitalized.
The infection like meningitis is a form of meningococcal disease.
The clinic provided antibiotics for at risk individuals, according to John Wylie, PIO for the Oologah-Talala Emergency Medical Services District.
Children who attend the Oologah-Talala Lower Elementary school or who have ridden on Bus Nos. 1, 7, 12 or 17 are asked to visit the clinic Friday at the Lower Elementary Gym on the south end of the campus, said Wylie.
A 7-year-old student died on Wednesday and an 8-year-old student died from the infection on Thursday.
Rogers County Health Department officials are investigating the cases.
