Ice cream lovers have something to shout about. Claremore will soon have a new Braum’s.
Construction is nearing completion at 1770 S. Lynn Riggs. The new facility is the Oklahoma company’s “X” model, which will have 5,000 sq. ft. It is set to open on Sept. 1.
Claremore residents apparently love their ice cream so much that Braum’s officials have announced they will be replacing the existing store at 700 N. Lynn Riggs, which was built in 1978 with a new facility just a few blocks away at 900 N. Lynn Riggs. Construction is planned for Spring 2010. The store will be Braum’s ‘W’ model, which is the company’s largest model with 5,756 sq. ft.
“Both store designs have a completely new look. We're excited that the folks in Claremore will be able to enjoy both models at one time,” said Drew Braum, President. “Claremore is such a great town and has always been so supportive of us through the years.” he said.
“CIEDA is pleased with the opening of the south Braum’s location and also we’re pleased with what will develop at the north location,” said Tim Hight, executive director of the Claremore Industrial and Economic Developmen Authority.
Hight and city officials have been working with Braum’s for some time as the ice cream company looked to add a second store and retool its existing presence in Claremore.
“It’s a significant investment” Braum’s is making in Claremore, Hight said.
The new store will employ up to 50 full time and part time employees. Applications for employment are currently being accepted. Those interested may apply in-person anytime at the store located at 700 North Lynn Riggs or online at www.braums80@yahoo.com.
The “X” model store will seat approximately 74 guests while the “W” model will seat 86 guests. Both stores will have double drive through windows. The larger store will also have a Fresh Market.
