August 13, 2009 — Multiple award winner and chart-topping country hit maker Ricochet is set to perform a free concert on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs.
In addition to winning numerous group awards, including an American Country Music award, Ricochet is among the most requested to perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” across the nation and is the only country music artist to chart the national anthem.
The free performance begins at 10 p.m. with local group Lost Highway kicking off the evening’s entertainment at the Dog Iron Saloon inside Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs.
“Will Rogers Downs is a great venue for hosting these national acts. There’s never a seat left in the house,” said David Stewart, CEO of Cherokee Nation Entertainment, which operates Cherokee Casinos and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa.
With the release of their self-titled debut album in 1996, which is certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America, Ricochet reached the Top Ten charts on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs with the singles “What Do I Know,” “Love Is Stronger Than Pride” and the No. 1 single, “Daddy's Money.”
Other hits for the group include “Ease My Troubled Mind,” “He Left a Lot to Be Desired” and “Blink of an Eye.”
Since their release of “The Star-Spangled Banner” in 1996, Ricochet has performed the anthem for NASCAR events, MLB, the NFL, the NHL, and PBR and PRCA events. The group has also headlined two USO Tours in 2000 and 2001.
