Claremore City Council approves residential duplex zoning

By Tom Fink

November 30, 2008 — Claremore City Council members last night approved a zoning change to allow for the placement of new duplex structures in a residential neighborhood.

Applicant Joel Ragland of Claremore had requested a rezoning on lots at 401 and 405 Oklahoma Avenue from Residential Single-Family High Density District (RS-3) to Residential Duplex District (RD).

Currently, the structures on the lots are condemned, and Ragland’s intention was to replace them with two new duplex structures on site.

The Claremore Rogers County Planning Commission had voted unanimously to recommend approval of Ragland’s request, when it came before them at a previous meeting.

Claremore City Council members unanimously approved the rezoning.

In other actions, council members:

•Approved the appointment of Mike Washburn and re-appointment of Newt Clements to the City of Claremore Rogers County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission.

Upon appointment, Washburn and Clements each will serve a four-year term, effective January 2009 through January 2013.

•Approved the soliciting of RFQ’s for engineering services for the elevated track.
