Progress reprinting history books

“History” will be repeating itself this year in Rogers County.

Claremore Daily Progress publisher Sean Evans recently announced the reprinting of the 1996 book “Rogers County, Oklahoma: Yesterday.”

“After the book’s initial publication, the 1,000 copies printed sold out, and since then, we’ve gotten several requests for more,” Evans said. “We’ve been give the opportunity to reprint a small number of the books and we felt now would be a good time to so — just in time for people to get their copies for Christmas.”

The library-quality hard-bound collector’s edition will be an “exact reprint” of the original edition, Evans said, with 128 pages of Rogers County history and photographs.

The book will be reprinted on an acid-free archival paper, and contains numerous photos taken in Rogers County and Claremore, dating back before 1900.

“We’re only going to be reprinting a limited number of the books, so persons wanting copies of it should get their orders in as soon as possible,” Evans said.

Cost of the books are $34.95 each, plus tax, and can be mailed to the Progress at 315 West Will Rogers Boulevard or paid in person.

“This is a unique opportunity for people who might not have picked up the book during its first printing to do so now,” Evans said. “It’s a remarkable collection of photos and stories culled from Rogers County’s past.”
