Man jailed after stabbing

October 21, 2008 — A 53-year-old Rogers County man was jailed early Saturday after allegedly stabbing his son in the abdomen.

Kevin Popeney was arrested and booked into the Rogers County Jail around 1:30 a.m. Saturday after his son reported to dispatchers that his father had stabbed him. Popeney was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, a felony, and domestic assault and battery, a misdemeanor.

According to the Rogers County Sheriff’s Office, Popeney called 911 around 1:10 a.m. reporting that his son had attacked him and gave a location of 21288 S. 4120 Road, near Claremore,

The son was taken to St. John Medical Center in Tulsa where he underwent surgery. His condition is not known.

Popeney is being held in lieu of a $60,000 bond.
