October 14, 2008 — Rogers County Commissioners approved a zoning change and awarded a bid for the Health Department roof at Monday’s board meeting.
Commissioners approved a zoning change from Agricultural to RS-40 (residential) for a lot split at 20276 S. 4092 Road, Claremore, on the recommendation of the Rogers County Planning Commission.
Commission Director Magan DeLozier Green said the zoning change was approved by the planning commission in a 7-0 vote on Oct. 2.
Thursday’s planning commission meeting has no county agenda items. Green said the commission has averaged one planning and zoning meeting per month during 2008.
“Our zoning requests and subdivision plats are down for the year,” Green said. “But our permits have remained steady until this past week.”
In October, the planning commission has sold five building permits. An average number would be closer to 15 by the half-point of the month, Green said.
Green said she anticipates that builders will be more cautious due to the economy. She believes the county will continue to see building permits issued for custom homes, but that the number of permits on spec homes is likely to slow down.
The County Health Department roofing project was awarded to low bidder Fuller Roofing Co. of Owasso.
Fuller bid the job at $49,350. Also bidding was Tribal Construction Co. at $58,999.
In other county business, commissioners:
