Claremore — Classic metal fans can ready themselves for some serious head-banging this August, as two vintage bands are scheduled to be rocking the Claremore Expo Center.
City of Claremore and King Productions will be hosting Firehouse, with special guests Hollywood Harlot, in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Claremore Expo Center.
“This (concert) will be the first of its kind in Claremore, and we’re very excited about it,” said Claremore City Manager Troy Powell. “It’s a different kind of concert than typically plays in this area and we’re interested to see how well it’s going to be received.”
When announced at a city council meeting of last month, L.A. Guns was cited as one of the bands the city was attempting to procure for the event, but in the booking process, Hollywood Harlot was named to play in their stead.
Powell had estimated the cost to the city for both bands would be “around $6,000,” a cost which he said the city should recoup as they will receive full profit from concession sales, and split the revenue of ticket sales with King Productions.
“We’re aware that these aren’t acts which usually perform in the Claremore area, but it will be our chance to gauge how successful one might be, and if the public responds well enough, we might not rule out hosting a similar one in the future,” he said.
Advance tickets are available for $15 at www.ticketstorm.com or at the door the night of the concert.
