<b><font color=red>UPDATE — </b></font color>One missing boater found

June 4, 2009 — The body of one of two boaters who went missing on Oologah Lake Sunday afternoon has been found.

Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton said the body of Paul Jones, a resident of the Winganon area northwest of Chelsea, was located in the water in the 2 o’clock hour by the Oklahoma Lake Patrol.

“They have found (Jones) but they haven’t gotten him out of the water yet,” Walton said.

Jones and his girlfriend went missing after launching a 14-foot aluminum boat into Oologah Lake from Allen’s Point Sunday afternoon. Jones’ girlfriend has not been found as of 3:45 p.m.

The boat was located just after noon partially submerged north of Winganon bridge. The couple was last seen leaving the boat ramp at Allen’s Point in a southeasterly direction.

High waters have hampered the search, according to officials. Oologah Lake is reported as 10-feet above normal levels.
