Corle terminated as Inola Library Director

By Charlene Harrell, Inola Correspondent

May 19, 2009 — In executive session at the May 11 Inola Town Council meeting, trustees agreed to allow the Library Board to terminate Paula Corle as Library Director. The previous Library Board had recommended this action, but it had been tabled for the past three meetings.

The latest request was from the newly-appointed Library Board. It was also agreed to pay her past wages from April 8 to May 5. The previous board had reported that it was not her job performance, rather her attitude and the fact that she could not work with the board.

Inola Volunteer Animal Rescue (IVAR) member, Patrice Jones, said that the contract sent them by Town Attorney Tommy Dyer Jr. contained language that was not acceptable to them; however, after discussions with him and Larry Grigg, trustee, it was reworded and they were all in agreement with the wording. The animals picked up will be held 72 hours to see if they are claimed. If not, they will be turned over to IVAR to try to find owners or place them up for adoption.

Police Chief Brad Craig reported that he had received 50 calls for service during April. They issued 43 citations and made eight arrests. He asked for consideration to advertise for sealed bids for the two police cars that have been surpluses. In response, the Town of Inola will be accepting sealed bids for the 1996 Ford and the 2002 Crown Victoria Ford vehicles. Bids should be submitted to the Town Clerk no later than May 26, before 4 p.m.
