Colleyville Council to decide on possible Mueller hire

January 11, 2009 — Colleyville City Council members have yet to finalize their decision on whether or not to hire Matt Mueller as their next city manager.

Although council members held a special meeting Thursday, they are still deciding between offering the job to current Claremore Assistant City Manager Mueller or former Weatherford, Texas city manager Jennifer Fadden.

“I got a call around midnight (Thursday) that they came out of executive session and hadn’t made a decision about who was going to be offered the job,” Mueller said. “From what I understand, the two of us are fairly well-matched for the job, so I imagine it’s a decision they’re taking their time to make before making either of us an offer.”

Former Colleyville City Manager Bill Lindley stepped down in August to become city administrator of Highland Park, Texas. Assistant City Manager Kelly Cooper has served as interim city manager at Colleyville since that time.

“It’s been an intense process, but a great learning experience for me,” Mueller said. “Whenever you put so much work into something, you really start to hope you’ll come out on top, but no matter what happens, I’ll be thrilled — becoming a city manager was always my career goal, but I love Claremore and my job here, so either way, I’ll feel like I’m getting the better end of the deal.”

Colleyville City Council members next meet the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 20.
