Rep. Sherrer named ranking member of Judiciary Committee

OKLAHOMA CITY — House of Representatives Democrat Leader Scott Inman (D-Del City) released House Committee assignments on Wednesday.

Rep. Ben Sherrer (D-Chouteau) was appointed to the Judiciary Committee, the Human Services Committee, and the Energy and Aerospace Committee.
Sherrer, who has served on the Judiciary committee for six years, was named Ranking Member by Leader Inman.  According to Inman, ”. . .if control of the legislative chamber changes, [Sherrer] would become the next chairman of the committee.”
Sherrer commented about his appointment to the Judiciary Committee and being named Ranking Member, saying, “With the continuous assault on individual liberties and erosion of 7th Amendment protections I’m proud to have the opportunity to continue serving in this capacity and fight for my constituents.”
As Ranking Member Sherrer will be responsible for informing and advising the caucus concerning key votes and policy positions which affect our State’s judicial systems.
In addition, Sherrer was reappointed to the Energy Committee and Human Services Committee.  Sherrer, who is in his fifth term in the legislature, has eight years of service on the Energy and Human Services committees.
