February 3, 2010 — Claremore City Council members approved the closure of a portion of an easement near the future sight of “Braum’s North” during its meeting on Monday night.
“Braum’s is currently in the process of building a new facility at the corner of Lynn Riggs and 11th Street to replace their existing (north) store,” said Claremore City Manager Troy Powell. “This (project) has been before council several times, including a related alley vacation as a public right-of-way.
“Despite the alley’s vacation, since utilities remained, an easement was still maintained,” he said. “Now that all the utilities there have been relocated, the owner is requesting the easement also be permanently closed.”
Council members voted unanimously to approve the easement’s closure, with Ward IV Councilman Tony Mullenger not present.
In other actions, council members:
•Adopted an ordinance consenting to the annexation of property west of Highway 66 at King Road and by Rural Sewer District No. 1 of Rogers County.
As the city is unable to provide sewer service to the new Claremore School District elementary school, Rural Sewer District No. 1 agreed to provide sewer service to the site.
“Looking at the cost it would be to the city to run sewer lines out to the new school, it would be in the tens of thousands of dollars,” Powell said, “but Dick (McGuire, of RSD #1) agreed to provide (sewer) services to the new school, with our consent to annex the portion of property west of Highway 66 at King (Road), for the sole purpose of sewer line provision.”
Council members approved the annexation of the site into Rural Sewer District No. 1 in a unanimous vote.
It also tabled an amendment on an agreement with Garver LLC for engineering services at the Wastewater Treatment Plant in the amount of $177,000.
