CLAREMORE —
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation had a geotechnical engineer on site at Keetonville Hill along SH 20 on Thursday. Randle White, ODOT Division 8 Engineer said the problem is not to the scale of problems of previous years and currently poses no safety hazard to motorists.
“There is a small slide just outside the highway area,” said White. “It’s a surface slide, it’s not deep like the ones we experienced a couple of years ago. We have called our geotechnical engineer. He is preparing a repair plan for us. We’ll go out and make the repairs. We don’t anticipate that we’ll close any lanes. We don’t have any safety concerns for the highway due to how far it is from the highway. It’s outside the drive area.”
Safety is the primary concern and ODOT will take no chances.
“If we do determine there is a concern for safety, we will not hesitate to close down the highway,” said White.
