Road crews with Rogers County District 1 are giving S 4170 Road also known as Lake Road some special attention.
The crew under the direction of Commissioner Dan DeLozier is working to add a right turn lane to the intersection with Highway 20 near the Will Rogers Turnpike.
The road has had an increasing amount of traffic and unfortunately accidents, according to DeLozier.
“It is a safety issue and we want to do everything we can to improve public safety,” DeLozier said.
This project is expected to be complete in just a few days and the improvements should bring an immediate impact to the area, according to DeLozier. The roadway is often used as a short cut for people that live on the east side of Claremore and for Claremore Lake visitors.
This project is just one of many that DeLozier’s crews is currently working on. District 1 recently completed new railroad crossing in the northern part of the district and will soon be finalizing the inspections on the new Akin Road bridge.
DeLozier said he is focus on public safety while being a good steward of taxpayer funds.
He serves a portion of the city of Claremore and the area north of Highway 20 including Chelsea, Foyil and Sequoyah.
