ODOT worker injured when tractor overturns

By Krystal J. Carman

September 9, 2009 — An ODOT worker mowing highway right-of-ways Tuesday afternoon was injured after the tractor overturned under an overpass.

Dustin Marang, of Strang, was driving an ODOT mowing tractor around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday when, while negotiating a turn, the tractor overturned.

“He came part of the way down the hill and then tried to turn to avoid the railroad right of way and that’s when he turned over,” Verdigris Chief Detective Darrin Hester said.

Marang received some head injuries from broken glass, Hester said, and was transported to Claremore Regional Hospital for treatment. In addition, Hester indicated the damage to the tractor was significant.
