July 9, 2009 — Three Rogers County men are in Rogers County Jail, after local law officers discovered marijuana in their Claremore residence during an early morning drug bust this week.
“Claremore Police, acting jointly with the Rogers County Sheriff’s officers, entered the residence of 301 South Perdue in Claremore, acting on a search warrant on an investigation of illegal substances within the residence,” said John Singer, investigator, Claremore Police Department. “Inside the residence, notable quantities of marijuana were found, which we had adequate reason to believe the residents were planning to distribute (sell).”
Singer said the three residents, Douglas Jack Matthews Jr., 24, Brian Andrew Stewart, 20, and Aaron William Byrd, 21, were arrested and booked into Rogers County Jail, where they are currently being held.
A fourth person, not a resident, also was found in the residence, possessing marijuana at the time of the search, but he was booked and released the following morning for possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor in his case as he only had a small amount upon his person.
Although the men have yet to be formally charged, Singer said each is to be charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, a felony.
Additional charges will be filed against Stewart for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of CDS (misdemeanors), and against Matthews for possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony (a felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (a misdemeanor).
