July 7, 2009 — Monday, Rogers County commissioners selected BKL Incorporated Engineers & Architecture Planning Interiors to perform a feasibility study for a new courthouse, 911 center and jail expansion.
Commissioners interviewed five firms for the job and used a point system to rank them.
“We used a rate scale and ranked them based on multiple criteria,” said Commissioner Kirt Thacker. “We considered their past experience, their technical experience, their work load, their scope of design, and all three commissioners ranked them individually and then we combined our scores.”
BKL came out the highest.
Six firms were invited to attend the afternoon session. Five attended and made presentations including Larry Edmondson & Associates, Inc., AiP Architects in Partnership, BKL Incorporated Engineers & Architecture Planning Interiors, and Crafton, Tull & Sparks. The interviews and presentations were open to the public and ran through the entire afternoon.
“They will be at our committee meeting Thursday evening and I’ll introduce them to the committee,” said Thacker. “They’re just going to dive right in.”
Thacker is one of eleven committee members appointed last week. Several members of the community and judiciary also serve.
