City to celebrate Independence Day Friday night

Sixx Gun Hill to perform, fireworks at 9:30

The City of Claremore is hosting its Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration at Claremore Lake Park on Friday, July 3.

“We hope that having our event on Friday will allow more families the opportunity to participate,” said Cassie Sowers, Marketing and Public Relations Director. “Since the holiday falls on a weekend this year, we assume many families will be visiting friends and family out of town. Hopefully they will be able to join us for our Kids Fishing Tournament and a hometown celebration at Claremore Lake before they leave.”

The park will open Friday, July 3, at 7:00 am, for the annual Kids Fishing Tournament. It will close again at 12:00 pm after the tournament. The park will re-open at 6:00 pm that evening with entertainment by the Travelers starting at 6:15 pm. At 7:00 pm there will be a magic show presented by Magic Mike and at 7:30 pm the Claremore Fire Department will present a Flag Raising along with the National Anthem. Heartland Express will play at 7:45 pm, followed by Sixx Gunn Hill at 8:30 pm. The spectacular fireworks show will begin at approximately 9:30 pm.

This free event is presented by the City of Claremore and parking will be at the Will Rogers Stampede Arena, weather permitting. Organizers encourage citizens to bring their lawn chairs, family and neighbors. Concessions will be available for purchase. Alcohol and private fireworks are not allowed in the park. Pets are not allowed at Claremore Lake during this event. Only handicapped parking will be allowed in the park; all others must park in the Will Rogers Stampede Arena.
