County commissioners continue bridge projects

CLAREMORE — The Rogers County Commissioners voted on a very light agenda Tuesday, including general business.

Officials provided an update by department as well as a brief discussion regarding upcoming building projects.
Commissioner Mike Helm will be starting engineering services with Brian Kellogg for the construction of a new bridge near Talala.
The bridge is the main route into Ramona and the county is expected to install a pre-cast bridge system to limit the time the road will be closed, according to Kellogg.
The project will be located on EW35 Road, two miles west of 4060 Road and it is a major collector, Kellogg said.
Commissioner Dan DeLozier will also be working on a bridge project near Owallo Road.
Commissioner Kirt Thacker continues to move forward with two bridge projects including the Spunky Creek Bridge near Catoosa.
In other business, construction continues on the new courthouse which is now reported to be 76 percent complete and BKL is working to re-engineer the plans to the E911 center.
The engineering will cost an additional $130,000, now that the building plans have been downsized.
DeLozier continues talks with the city of Claremore, as the County looks to bring them back into the center.
“We are opening a dialog with the city and they are working with us,” DeLozier said.
Information Technology Director Brett Williston spoke to the board regarding a request by the County Clerk Peggy Armstrong to take over computer operations for her department. This decision comes after the resignation of Armstrong’s computer operator.
Armstrong is working to insure that the transition after the first of the year will be smooth and to protect the integrity of the computer network.
