Claremore fire chief recognized

CLAREMORE — Claremore Fire Chief Sean Douglas was recently  recognized for the completion of an executive program hosted by the Federal Emergency Management Department.

The U.S. National Fire Academy affiliated program is two weeks long, every year for four years and provides valuable training, according to Claremore City Manager Jim Thomas.
The program covers many topics including risk analysis, executive leadership and emergency management operations.
Douglas started the program prior to joining the staff of the City of Claremore.
Some of the requirements included research analysis, according to Thomas.
“My understanding it is compared to a post graduate program,” Thomas said.
Thomas awarded Douglas the title of “Executive Fire Officer” reading the official certificate of achievement issued by the United States Congress and program faculty.
“It has been a long journey and I plan to use it as best I can,” Douglas said.
Douglas joined the Claremore Fire Department in 2010, previously serving the community of Warrensburg, Mo.
