CLAREMORE — Rogers County District Judges Dynda Post, Dwayne Steidley, Associate District Judge Sheila Condren recently created a Veterans Court for veterans that have pending criminal cases in Rogers County.
The court will deal with addiction and mental health issues.
“We have a large number of individuals who have served their country, who are returning with a variety of issues, and who come in contact with the Criminal Justice System,” Post said. “We need to address these issues and get these citizens back on the right path.”
“Many of these individuals have special problems which can be better dealt with in a specific treatment court,” Condren said.
Condren also serves as the Rogers County Drug Court Judge.
Judge Steidley will be handling the Veterans Court Docket.
“These men and women have served their country and our citizens with honor and bravery, this is our opportunity to serve them,” Steidley said.
The new court docket will not be implemented until after the start of the New Year.
District Attorney Janice Steidley will be working with the judges on this docket.
