CLAREMORE — To get our youngest Zebras ready for school, Kindergarten enrollment will be the morning of April 2. Additionally, if you missed out on the last parent-teacher conference, additional conference times are available March 11th.
It is important that the educational process involve the student, teacher and parent(s) — please make a point to visit with your child’s teacher.
The Zebras have been busy since my last newsletter. A number of our students have won prestigious awards, honors and titles. So hang-on as we list their successes.
Both the Roosa fourth grade and Central Upper Elementary fifth grade academic teams won their respective academic competitions. Congratulations to Advisor Kay Strain and both of these up and coming teams.
The Claremore High School Academic Bowl Team recently won the State 5-A title edging out Booker T. Washington for the win.
This is the third title in five years for our academic bowl team. Congratulations to Coach Alan Douthitt and the members of the team. The win allows them the opportunity to compete in the National Academic Bowl to be held in Chicago.
The CHS Wrestling Team continues its domination. Coach Chapman and his student-athletes repeated with a State Title in the Dual State Competition and Individual-Team Titles this year. This is a significant accomplishment and our wrestlers and coaches are to be commended for their hard work and dedication.
Well done Zebras — Claremore is now known across the state for its wrestling program.
Both our girls and boys basketball teams emerged from regional play advancing further into the state playoffs. Our Zebras advanced beyond regional play for the first time in more than five years. The Lady Zebras are attempting to keep their 12 year streak alive qualifying for the State Tournament. Good luck to both teams.
I am proud to announce that we have three Academic All-State students. They have distinguished themselves as three of the top 100 senior students in the state, recognized by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence.
To have three students named from a high school our size is monumental. The Academic All-Staters are Reagan Gill, Brooke Gunter, and Jillian Lundie. Outstanding work, ladies! Additionally, Jillian Lundie has been name a National Merit Finalist.
As you can see, the Zebras have been busy galloping along this year while making the community proud. Go Zebras!
