Time to take Terrill to task

Randy Terrill, you are an enigma and a contradiction.

On one hand you profess to have empathy for illegal aliens who cross the border in search of a better life for themselves and their children. You call it a tragedy, yet you would relegate these same people, including women and children, to a lesser life just because they weren’t born American citizens.

This separatist mentality is the very same reason we have Native American tribes jeopardizing health care for thousands because of something that happen over 100 years ago and children who think it is funny to hang nooses from trees and talk about each other with racial slurs.

Sure, the illegal immigration problem goes beyond our domestic infighting. It is, however, the mirrored truth that we pretend does not exist.

I’m sure if you, Mr. Terrill, or a member of your family, found yourself on the other side of this man-made abyss without a job, healthcare and/or an education, you would do the same thing 13 million illegal aliens have already done — come to America or die trying.

It is unconscionable to expect any human being to settle for less just because the haves are afraid of having less and the poor have nots don’t work or are afraid they might have to share what they do have. If the laws are so written that we make criminals out of mothers with unborn children who seek opportunity in our country, then those laws need to be rewritten to reflect a more humane immigration policy at the national level.

You want to cut off state-paid medical treatment for expectant illegal immigrant mothers. You say it violates federal law and runs counter to Oklahoma’s recent tough immigration laws outlined in House Bill 1804. You ask, heaven forbid, where would these benefits end if allowed for “soon-to-be citizens” — of course, you are speaking of the unborn children.

A better question is this: Who do you think you are trying to decide whether or not one of God’s creations deserves a chance to earn a living, live healthy, become educated and live free?

It is time for this small-minded insanity to be exposed for what it really is — selfishness, hate, bigotry and greed.

Remember, God made heaven and earth and all that is in it.

Even you, Randy Terrill.

You, and all who support your agenda, can count yourselves lucky to have been born in America. You should consider what your life would be if you had not been?
