There’s no reason for city and county youth to sit around the house doing nothing this summer.
Nearly every church offers Vacation Bible School options, church camps and weekly youth activities.
If you’re interest is more secular, check out the City Parks & Recreation Department’s community calendar with workshop and camp offerings that range from arts and crafts to sports to technology.
And, don’t forget the Robson Performing Arts Center’s schedule for the those interested in the arts and theater.
PAC Summer 2008 workshops for ages 13 to 18 include the MyPlace Team Theatre Workshop and Give My Regards to Broadway while, for ages 9 to 12 there is a theater workshop based around the Disney play, The Jungle Book. In addition, there are specialty workshops for both age groups in improv, stage make-up, playwriting, and photography.Whether it’s acting, make-up, playwriting or photography, there’s something at the Robson for you.
If there’s still too much free time around the house, consider volunteering. Contact the city and town hall, senior citizen centers, the Chamber of Commerce, churches and other service groups and organizations in our town or community. Do something for someone else and you might be surprised what it will do for you.
Get busy. Make this a summer to remember in Rogers County.
