Deputies arrest Sand Springs man on grand larceny charge

CLAREMORE —

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Sand Springs man last week after an alleged attempted theft of a horse trailer from a home in Rogers County.
Anthony Woodson Jones was arrested July 18 on a lone felony charge of grand larceny in connection with an attempted property theft beginning in Rogers County and ending in Tulsa.
According to sheriff’s reports, Rogers County deputies were dispatched to the 10000 block of N. 177th E. Ave. in response to the report of a stolen trailer.
While en route to the scene, deputies received information that the homeowner had seen the suspect “leaving with the trailer,” described as a “black in color horse trailer.”
Upon arrival at the scene, Rogers County Sheriff’s Deputy David Metz came into contact with the homeowner — the reporting party’s wife — who informed him that her husband was “following the vehicle,” but “lost him” at Highway 244 and Garnett in Tulsa, reports indicate.
Metz then left the residence and had dispatch put out a call to meet with Tulsa Police Department officers at 4400 N. Mingo, whereupon he was advised that Tulsa police had already located and stopped the truck with the trailer.
Metz then met with the property owner and Officer Harold Goad with the Tulsa Police Department at the N. Mingo location, where the property owner identified the trailer, reports indicate.
Jones, who was being detained by Goad, was then turned over to Metz who transported him back to Claremore, where he was booked into Rogers County Jail on a charge of grand larceny.
Jones had a 13-year-old juvenile with him at the time of his detainment.
Sheriff’s reports gave no indication as to whom took over custody of the juvenile when Jones was detained and subsequently arrested.
Bond has been set at $15,000.
