Wal-Mart theft leads to pursuit and arrests

CLAREMORE — In the late evening of Nov. 4, Claremore Police officers responded to an emergency call from the Wal-Mart shopping center. The call was in regards to three black males who broke through a glass counter, stealing several iPads before leaving in a waiting vehicle.

Lt. Steve Cox said officers attempted to stop the car from leaving, but the suspects were already heading westbound on 66 toward Tulsa.
Claremore patrol units followed the vehicle before the Oklahoma Highway Patrol became involved. 
OHP pursued the suspects into north Tulsa where the vehicle came to a stop.
“The black males exited the vehicle and escaped on foot, however the driver was caught and arrested,” said Cox.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 32-year-old Carey King of Tulsa.
King was charged with grand larceny, endangering others while eluding police, two counts for running a road block and possession of a controlled substance.
Through investigation, one of the male suspects was identified as Tulsa man Lloyd Clemons, 22. 
Clemons was arrested at his place of employment Tuesday and charged with larceny of merchandise from a retailer, according to Rogers County Sheriff records.
Cox said authorities are trying to identify any lookouts who assisted in the larceny.
Investigators have discovered that suspects were stealing the items and then selling the stolen goods on Craig’s List.
The investigation into the matter is still ongoing, he said.
