J.M. Davis Museum plans annual Daisy BB Gun Day

CLAREMORE —  

The fourth annual Daisy BB Gun Day at the J.M. Davis Arms and Historical Museum in Claremore will be held Saturday, Feb. 23. 
Children and youths through the age of 18 may participate free of charge for the event. Adults may shoot for a three dollar charge.
Shooters will be divided into three categories; children through age 12; age 13 to 18 and adult division. Each division winner will receive a custom made Daisy BB rifle.
The gallery and competition begins at 10 a.m. and continues to 4 p.m.
“This event has grown each year,” said Davis Museum executive director, Wayne McCombs. “Participants and their parents have come from this four state area. In fact, we have had one champion in 2011 from Louisiana.”
The Friends of the J.M. Davis Museum, the support group for the Davis Museum purchased the indoor BB shooting range from the Daisy Outdoor Products Company of Rogers, AR. The group also takes the shooting gallery to the Claremore Outdoor Expo, Bluegrass and Chili Festival and the Wanemacher Gun and Knife Show in Tulsa.
In addition to museum staff, members of the Claremore ROTC and Claremore High School skeet shooting club will assist participants inside the range.
In addition to the shooting event, anyone with an air rifle that wishes to have it evaluated or needs repair may visit with air rifle historian and collector, Jim Dry of Claremore. 
The J.M. Davis Arms and Historical Museum is located in downtown Claremore at 5th and J.M. Davis Blvd. It is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information on the Daisy BB Day, call the museum at (918) 341-5707.
