RSU nursing student receive scholarships

CLAREMORE —

The Claremore Regional Hospital Auxiliary provided an additional $3,500 to benefit the seven recipients of the Claremore Regional Hospital Auxiliary Restricted Scholarship.

The recipients, who each received a $750 scholarship during the fall, will receive an additional $500 each for the spring semester.

Nursing students receiving scholarships are: Malissa Shaffer and Casey Merchant of Bartlesville, Brittany Barnes of Tulsa, and Claremore residents Stevey Conger, Amanda Hoyle, Angela Rainey and Edra Webster.

“The Claremore Regional Hospital Auxiliary is a great friend and longtime supporter of the nursing program at Rogers State University,” said Dr. Larry Rice, RSU president. “Since 1991, the auxiliary has provided more than $167,000 to the Rogers State University Foundation to strengthen our health education programs.”

The organization also funds the Claremore Hospital Auxiliary Endowment Scholarship, which is awarded annually. This year’s recipient is Elaine Stewart of Tulsa.

The Claremore Regional Hospital Auxiliary donates more than 12,000 hours of service and other assistance each year to hospital operations. Since 1969, the auxiliary has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars in hospital equipment and scholarships to students in pursuit of careers in the medical field.
