Former Claremore leader impacted community

CLAREMORE — Services have been set for longtime Centrilift and HydroHoist executive Joseph Cox. 

Cox passed away Sunday, Nov. 4 in Tulsa at the age of 79. 
A native of Trinidad, Texas, Cox served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-54, where he was an aircraft mechanic. 
Following his time in the service, he joined Borg Warner Corp. in June 1959 and worked with the Byron Jackson Pump Division for 21 years in Houston, Los Angeles, Toronto, Canada, Victoria, Australia, and Tulsa. 
Follwing this, he worked for the Hughes Tool Company for eight years as a group vice president and as president of Centrilift in Claremore. He was a key in the creation of the Rogers County United Way.
He retired from Centrilift in 1988 and purchased, then managed HydroHoist Boat Lifts, also in Claremore. He sold HydroHoist and retired in 2006.
While in Claremore, he also served on the board at RCB Bank.
He is survived by wife, Zangona, children, grandchildren, and other relatives. 
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 in the Mason Chapel of Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa. Arrangements are under the direction of Floral Haven Funeral Home.
