Crone to speak at Inola Area Chamber of Commerce banquet

Ed Crone, Executive Director of Grand Gateway Economic Development Association will be the guest speaker at the annual banquet of the Inola Area Chamber of Commerce set for Saturday, Jan. 19.
Crone is a product of the Oklahoma Educational System. He graduated from Stroud Public Schools, and received his B.S. in Business Administration from Northeastern State University and completed the course work for MPA from the University of Oklahoma.
Following graduation, Crone was hired as the Director of Community Development at Eastern Oklahoma Development District located in Muskogee and served a seven county area. During his tenure at EODD he oversaw the small cities Community Block Development Grant Program (CDBG) and worked with the U.S. Dept. of Commerce Economic Development Administration. He then made a move to Dade City, Fla.where he was the Executive Director of the Downtown Dade City Main Street Project. 
In 1995, Crone and his wife made a move back to Oklahoma and he accepted the position as Executive Director of Grand Gateway Economic Development Association. His current duties include the oversight, direction, and management of a multi-governmental service agency. He currently manages a long list of programs that includes the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Oklahoma Department of Human Services designated Area Agency on Aging (AAA), Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Rural Fire Defense Program, U.S. Department of Transportation, Oklahoma Department of Transportation Rural Transit Authority, Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA programs, State of Oklahoma, REAP (Rural Economic Action Program) and others.
Crone has served as the State Chairman for Oklahoma Association of Regional Councils (OARC). He has served as the Chairman of the Solid Waste Research Institute of Northeast Oklahoma and North East Rural Developers coalition. He served on the Oklahoma Rural Development Council and the Oklahoma Transit Association. 
Crone is currently on the Oklahoma Workforce Investment Board, the Solid Waste Research Institute, Region 6 Homeland Security Advisory Board and serves on the Oklahoma Comprehensive Water Use Planning Committee and participates in the Oklahoma Academy for State Goals making recommendations for the Oklahoma 50 Year Water Plan.
Crone and his wife of 28 years, Beth, reside in Claremore with their two girls, Amy, 18 and Sarah, 15.
The banquet will be held in the Fellowship Hall at the First Baptist Church in Inola and will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person and available at the BancFirst and the RCB bank locations, Inola Drug Store, or by calling the Chamber at (918) 543-2900.
