A veteran economic developer has been named the new executive director of the Rogers County Industrial Development Authority.
Mickey Thompson, who has recently served as president and CEO of the Broken Arrow Chamber and Economic Development Corporation, will replace Larry Steidley, who became interim director following the resignation of Don Cochran.
“We are fortunate to have someone with Mickey’s credentials and experience available to complete our industrial park program and to market our small manufacturing sites and buildings,” said RCIDA Chairman Steve Savage.
Thompson is retiring as president and CEO of the Broken Arrow Chamber and Economic Development Corporation at the end of June. Thompson is looking forward to focusing on economic development.
“The purpose of my retirement was not to quit work but to slow the pace of it a little bit. I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t be good at not working,” he said.
Formerly, Thompson was the vice president of economic development for the Tulsa Metro Chamber where he had worked for 24 years, becoming well acquainted with Rogers County. Read more about Thompson online at claremoreprogress.com.
