Vernon Wayne and Rose Marie (Goodrich) Leuthen will soon be celebrating 60 years of marriage. The couple was married June 8, 1947 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Kansas City, Mo.
Vernon was born in Eugune, Mo., and finished high school there before leaving for the Air Force. He returned home form Guam in 1946 and enrolled in Southwest Baptist College on the GI Bill. He met Rose Marie there.
Rose Marie was born in Kansas City, Mo., and finished where she finished high school before going to SWBC.
The couple have spent their married life in Texas, Kansas, New York, and Missouri, before moving to Claremore in 1998. Vernon spent 30 years in data processing, the last 20 with IBM. Rose Marie was a stay at home Mom. Later she managed the family beef cattle operation and did substitute teaching.
The couple have two children: son Mickey Leuthen, and wife Pam, of Claremore, and daughter Rebecca Cox, and husband Wayne, of Albuquerque, N.M. They also have two grandsons.
A celebration is scheduled for 2-4 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at the Fellowship Hall of Memorial Baptist Church.
