Dale and Ida Belle (Crank) Long will soon be celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary. The couple was united in marriage April 26, 1957 in Colcord.
Both were born in Colcord. They were high school sweethearts and graduated from Jay High School.
The couple first made their home in Tulsa before moving to Catoosa. They later moved to a farm in the Sequoyah area where they raised cattle.
Dale retired in 1994 after 30 years with Rockwell International in Tulsa. He worked as Master Leadman. Ida Belle was a seamstress, did substitute teaching, and was a homemaker.
They are both members of the Calvary Freewill Baptist Church where Dale has served as deacon for 35 years and Ida Belle has taught the Beginners Sunday School Class for 35 years. She is active in the Women’s Auxiliary.
They have traveled extensively, making four trips to Alaska where they spent a month each time fishing for red salmon and going on cruises up in the glaciers. They have traveled to all the states with the exception of one.
The couple’s children include Ivan Long of Claremore, and Tina and Mike Butler of Bixby. Grandchildren are Jake and Tyler Butler.
An anniversary celebration is planned for April 21, 2-4 p.m. at Claremore Community Center.
The couple have an anniversary trip planned to Branson, Mo., Nashville, Tenn., and then onto the Smokey Mountains.
